Advancing Youth Development Through Cultural Engagement, Leadership, and Community Involvement

At SoSSt, we believe that every young person deserves the opportunity to discover their voice, embrace their heritage, and lead with confidence. Since 2014, our mission has been to uplift African immigrant and diaspora youth through programs that are intentionally crafted to spark personal growth, foster leadership, and celebrate the richness of African cultures. Through creative expression, educational enrichment, and community-rooted initiatives, we provide youth in Charlotte and beyond with the tools, support, and spaces they need to thrive. Whether it’s through storytelling, mentorship, or cultural workshops, we’re building a generation of changemakers who are deeply connected to who they are—and empowered to shape the future. Culturally Rooted Mentorship

We celebrate heritage through storytelling circles, Ethiopian/Eritrean holiday traditions, and cultural dance. These experiences foster belonging and pride in identity.

Youth Leadership & Identity Labs

Workshops led by and for youth, covering essential topics like financial literacy, mental health, college preparation, and networking.

Academic Support

We offer tutoring and guidance on college readiness. Many of our alumni have successfully transitioned to college and careers, supported by our team.

Service Projects

Youth lead initiatives such as community clean-ups, health fairs, and cultural showcases — developing civic responsibility and leadership skills.
